A Viral Claim With No Substance
The internet loves a good crypto story, but this one was pure fiction. A viral post on X from a user called "Doomer" claimed that Netflix was working on a documentary titled "Crypto Kingpin," with martial arts legend Jackie Chan set to play Binance (BNB) co-founder Changpeng "CZ" Zhao. The claim spread quickly across social media, but there was just one problem: it wasn't true.
CZ wasted no time shooting down the rumor. "How did this go viral? It's false," the cryptocurrency mogul posted. "I like Jackie Chan, but he is 71 years old. Give the dude a break!"
As it turns out, there's zero evidence supporting the claim. Netflix hasn't commented on the matter, and Chan's representatives also remained silent when asked about it.
The Real CZ Story
While the Netflix rumor may be bogus, CZ's actual life story is plenty dramatic. He founded Binance in 2017, and the platform quickly became the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange. Forbes pegs his net worth at $78.8 billion, making him the wealthiest person in crypto.
His journey hit a major bump in 2023 when he was sentenced to four months in prison for anti-money laundering violations. He paid a $50 million fine and stepped down as Binance's CEO. Earlier this year, President Donald Trump granted him a pardon, clearing the way for his return to public life.
At the time of writing, BNB was trading at $860.63, up 0.85% over the previous 24 hours.
