AMC Entertainment shares climbed Tuesday after the theater chain unveiled a new annual popcorn subscription and shared impressive box office numbers from the Wicked sequel's opening weekend.

AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (AMC) shares got a nice bump Tuesday, and the theater giant had plenty of good news to share.

The Popcorn Play

AMC rolled out the AMC Popcorn Pass, letting AMC Stubs members snag half-price popcorn all year long for just $29.99. If you're someone who hits the movies regularly, that math works out pretty quickly. The pass goes on sale December 1st.

Wicked Weekend Numbers

But the popcorn news was just the appetizer. The real story came from Monday's box office update about "Wicked: For Good." The sequel posted AMC's strongest opening weekend for a PG- or G-rated film since early 2023. More than 4.5 million people showed up at AMC theaters worldwide last week, including those who caught early access screenings before the official Friday, November 21 debut.

The numbers get even more impressive when you drill down. AMC grabbed all seven of the top-performing theaters in the U.S. and Canada based on admissions revenue for the film. The opening weekend also crushed merchandise sales, becoming AMC's best opening-weekend merchandise program of 2025. And that Wicked Double Feature on November 20? It was AMC's most-attended double feature in a decade.

CEO Adam Aron clearly couldn't contain his excitement: "Reflecting the continued enthusiasm of our guests for this magical story, we are gratified that WICKED: FOR GOOD exceeded last year's opening week success, and in the process, it also established a new AMC merchandise record for 2025. With additional family-focused tentpole titles arriving throughout the remainder of the year, we look forward to building on this momentum in the coming weeks."

Stock Movement

AMC shares were up 4.77% at $2.31 at the time of publication.
