While the Dow Jones slipped around 100 points on Friday, several stocks bucked the downward trend with impressive gains. Coupang jumped 11% after clarifying its customer data investigation, while Chinese EV makers and other big names posted solid advances.

Friday wasn't a great day for the broader market—the Dow Jones index dropped around 100 points—but a handful of stocks managed to shine anyway. Leading the charge was Coupang Inc. (CPNG), which posted a massive 11% gain after clearing up some confusion about how it handled a data breach investigation.

The South Korean e-commerce giant had been dealing with market speculation that it conducted a probe into a former employee suspected of leaking customer data entirely on its own, without government oversight or independent verification. Not so, said the company. According to Yonhap News Agency, Coupang worked closely with government authorities throughout the entire investigation process. That clarification was apparently all investors needed to hear—shares jumped to $25.30.

Other Notable Gainers

Coupang wasn't alone in posting solid Friday gains. Here's who else moved higher:

Starfighters Space Inc. (FJET) climbed 12% to $13.80, with shares experiencing typical post-IPO volatility that sent them swinging upward.

Dingdong (Cayman) Ltd (DDL) gained 11.6% to $3.03, joining its fellow e-commerce name Coupang in positive territory.

Xpeng Inc. (XPEV) surged 7.6% to $21.06, propelled by reports that the Chinese EV maker announced its entry into Qatar and struck a partnership with Mauritian distributor Axess Limited. The stock also appears to be benefiting from China's new energy-consuming standards for electric vehicles, which could provide a tailwind for the sector.

Sigma Lithium Corp (SGML) advanced 6.6% to $14.40, while United States Antimony Corp (UAMY) rose 6.4% to $6.76. Mining and materials stocks showed some strength during the session.

Nexa Resources SA (NEXA) climbed 6.3% to $9.41, adding to the gains in the materials sector.

Zeta Global Holdings Corp (ZETA) gained 5.6% to $20.18 in Friday trading.

Polestar Automotive Holding UK Plc (PSNY) rose 5.5% to $18.13, riding continued momentum from a major financing announcement designed to strengthen its balance sheet. The electric vehicle maker recently secured a $300 million equity investment from Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria and Natixis—exactly the kind of cash infusion that helps investors sleep better at night.

Nio Inc. (NIO) gained 5% to $5.14, rounding out a strong day for Chinese EV stocks.
