AgEagle Aerial Systems Inc. (UAVS) shares jumped Friday after scoring a contract with the U.S. Army for six eBee TAC tactical mapping drones. The stock surged 29.49% to $1.053, showing investors like when drone companies actually sell drones to the military.
The Deal Details
The transaction went through AgEagle's European commercial partner, Dronivo GmbH, and includes six eBee TAC drones loaded with some pretty serious equipment. Each system comes with S.O.D.A. 3D and Duet M sensors plus full RTK/PPK activation, which is fancy GPS speak for "extremely accurate positioning." The Army will deploy these across multiple mission sets.
What Makes These Drones Special
The eBee TAC drones deliver centimeter-level accuracy for tactical mapping and intelligence gathering, even in disconnected or challenging environments where you can't rely on extensive ground control points. That's the kind of precision that matters when you're planning operations.
The S.O.D.A. 3D sensor handles advanced photogrammetry by capturing nadir and oblique images simultaneously for 3D modeling. Meanwhile, the Duet M sensor combines RGB and multispectral imaging for vegetation analysis, environmental monitoring, and surface modeling.
Built for Tactical Operations
These are fixed-wing, hand-launched drones with 90-minute endurance, a 17.2-mile range, and digital camouflage. They're NDAA compliant and listed on the Blue UAS program, which matters for government contracts.
CEO Bill Irby noted the sale reflects growing demand for advanced tactical mapping capabilities. He added that the company implemented operational improvements through 2025 to shorten delivery timeframes and reduce customer wait times.
Potential missions include border surveillance, tactical mapping for operational planning, intelligence gathering, search and rescue, counterinsurgency, and training support.
