Several companies found themselves in the analyst spotlight Friday as Wall Street firms launched fresh coverage with new price targets and ratings. The headlines belonged to the fast-casual restaurant space, where two popular chains received enthusiastic endorsements.
Telsey Advisory Group analyst Sarang Vora kicked off coverage on Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc (CMG) with an Outperform rating and set a price target of $50. That represents a decent runway from Thursday's closing price of $39.18, signaling Vora sees room for the burrito giant to run higher. Chipotle has become something of a Wall Street darling in recent years as the company has demonstrated consistent execution and growth.
Vora didn't stop there. The analyst also initiated coverage on CAVA Group Inc (CAVA) with the same Outperform rating, setting a price target of $85. CAVA shares closed Thursday at $69.60, meaning the target implies roughly 22% upside. The Mediterranean fast-casual chain has drawn comparisons to Chipotle's growth trajectory, and Telsey's dual bullish calls on both companies suggests confidence in the fast-casual dining segment's momentum.
Not every initiation came with the same enthusiasm. Baird analyst Wesley Golladay took a more measured approach on Sonida Senior Living Inc (SNDA), starting coverage with a Neutral rating and a $35 price target. Sonida shares finished Thursday at $32.35, so there's some modest upside embedded in Baird's view, but the Neutral stance suggests a wait-and-see approach rather than aggressive bullishness.
Similarly, JP Morgan analyst Tomohiko Sano launched coverage on Bowman Consulting Group Ltd (BWMN) with a Neutral rating and $40 price target. Bowman shares closed at $34.77 on Thursday, giving investors about 15% potential upside to reach JP Morgan's target, though again the Neutral rating indicates the analyst isn't pounding the table just yet.
These initiation calls matter because they bring new research attention to companies that may have been flying under the radar for some investors. When major Wall Street shops publish their first deep-dive reports on a stock, it often brings fresh institutional interest and can move shares as new buyers digest the analysis.
For Chipotle and CAVA, the Outperform ratings add to the chorus of analyst support both companies have enjoyed. For Sonida Senior Living and Bowman Consulting, the Neutral calls suggest analysts want to see more before getting excited, but they're at least putting these names on the map for their clients.
